I CANNOT believe I am less than a week away from leaving my
new home in Cork, Ireland and coming back to the U.S. It’s surreal.
I can’t even describe how much I’m going to miss this place, and how absolutely fantastic this experience was. It was exactly what I needed, and I feel like the luckiest person on the planet that I got the chance to live for three months in another country, especially a country as fantastic as Ireland, and in a city as friendly and wonderful as Cork.
Some things that I honestly don’t know how I’m going to survive without are Katie Wexler and Anna Gallo, (who I will be taking many trips to Pennsylvania to visit), Jenny and her adorable facial expressions, Guinness, Bulmers Pear, Jameson and Limes, Sheep, the color green, and the Irish landscape - the rolling hills and jagged cliffs.
Things that I’m in love with and will never forget (that weren’t previously mentioned) are the cute little cottages, being able to travel and fly to other countries inexpensively, adventures in foreign countries, Nick Uhl aka JUMBO!, the Bodega, Irish Stew, Shephard’s Pie, Sinn E, Pubs in general, Riordan’s Bandaoke Night, The Brog, dancing at Havana’s at 2am, cramming 8 people into a weird hostel, wandering around Amsterdam for 3 hours looking for a hostel only to end up sleeping in a room with 19 chinese tourists, space cakes, edinburrowww, ghost tours, almost getting hit by cars, the cannabis cup, hiking arthur’s seat, irish breakfasts, irish desserts, tea rooms, harry potter fort making, o’connails chocolate cafe, halloween, peanut butter cup making, castles, cute old irish men, long ass hilarious bus rides, the hive, hilarious cab rides, irish history, giant’s causeway, stoooooories, folklore, thanksgiving, and so many more things.
I can honestly say that I consider Cork to be another home, and I can never express enough gratitude for being able to have this experience and share it with some of the most fantastic people I have ever met. Not only did I get to visit some of the most beautiful places in the world, I got to meet some fantastic people, step out of my comfort zone, become a traveler, have some hilarious and crazy things happen, and just expand my worldview. I’m leaving Ireland a more mature, happy, and experienced person - a better person I hope, and I’m leaving with some fantastic new friends, some Irish slang, some new customs, lots of Christmas presents, and endless amounts of hilarious and wonderful stories and pictures to share. UP CORK! gahh i’m gonna miss you <3
