Here's some lovely Irish slang for everyone, and some common popular phrases.
Slang:
Craic (pronounced crack) - it simply means, fun. Irish people will constantly ask you "where's the crack at?", "where's the good crack?", "what's the crack?", "does that pub have good crack?", etc, etc. It took us Americans some getting used to... obviously, but now I happily tell people where to find the best crack, and I know some great places for finding crack. :D
Slagging - Making fun of someone. Irish people make fun of you if they like you. Basically, you want to be slagged.
Slag - a slut. So be careful when using "slagging" in case you offend someone.
Fanny - I don't want to write what it means in Irish, it's disgusting. Basically, don't say "fanny pack" if you're here. Irish people will try to get you to say it, and then they will all laugh at you. Be careful.
The Shades - the police (garda). I LOVE saying this. "The shades are over there."
Phrases:
"Ye" - Everyone says "ye" here. "How are ye?" "Did ye have fun?" etc, etc.
"Yer man" - When referring to someone else, people always say "yer man." I like this one. It's fun.
Common Words:
Brilliant - everything here is brilliant.
Grand - everything here is also, grand.
You'll here both of these words about a thousand times a day.
One last thing! Irish people can't pronounce the "th" so "three" is "tree." It's adorable and endearing, as is the accent in general. I love it and love listening to people speak, and I just want to have an accent!
you do have an accent -- just not an irish one :)
